Founded in 2000, the University of Lucerne (UNILU) is Switzerland’s youngest public university. It comprises faculties in Theology, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Economics and Management, Health Sciences and Medicine, Behavioural Sciences and Psychology, a Graduate Academy, and a Further Education Academy. With around 3,300 students and 600 employees, UNILU focuses on research and teaching related to human sciences, making it unique in Switzerland.

Within the e-QuoL project, Prof. Dr. Gisela Michel’s team (Anica Ilic, PhD; Katharina Roser, PhD; Kathleen Ostheim, MSc) at UNILU is primarily involved in Work Packages 2 (WP2) and 3 (WP3), where they lead two tasks aiming to:

  • Assess the psychosocial and informational needs of children, adolescents, and young adult cancer survivors (CAYACS) and their loved ones across Europe (Task 2.3, WP2)
  • Develop related informational content and structure by adapting multiple existing resources (Task 3.4, WP3)

Gisela Michel

Gisela is a Professor of Health and Social Behavior at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine and the Vice Rector for Teaching and International Relations (as of August 2024) at the University of Lucerne. She holds a PhD in Psychology focusing on Clinical and Health Psychology from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). Prof. Dr. Michel’s research interests center around psychosocial outcomes and health services research in childhood cancer survivors. Her work examines late effects after childhood cancer, long-term follow-up, and the impact of the disease on families.
