The University Medical Center Mainz operates over 1,500 hospital beds. Every year, almost 70,000 patients are treated on an inpatient basis, and approx. 280,000 patients visit our specialized outpatient clinics, both from Germany and from abroad. More than 1,200 doctors and 2.900 nurses look after the health, recovery, and general wellbeing of our patients. UMC-Mainz implement highly professional and well-established procedures, while keeping the patient a fully responsible partner in all healthcare processes.

As outlined in the dedicated WPs, UMC-Mainz will bring its expertise in many WPs but mainly in WP5„Effectiveness analysis of the e-PSCT in a multinational setting“ in the fields of Study protocol development, Ethics and regulatory approval, Study conduct, and UMC-Mainz will be in charge of the impact evaluation (WP5).

Desiree Grabow

Deputy Head of the Division of Childhood Cancer Epidemiology, German Childhood Cancer Registry (GCCR) Institute of Medical Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics, University Medical Centre Mainz at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz.
Desiree Grabow is a founding member of PanCare and holds a doctoral degree in epidemiology. She is Deputy Head of the Division of Childhood Cancer Epidemiology, German Childhood Cancer Registry (GCCR) at Institute of Medical Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics, University Medical Centre Mainz at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz.

At GCCR, she is Lead of the Long-term surveillance of GCCR: Planning, Coordination, Conduct and Analysis of GCCR-Routines and Projects with external Collaboration partners; Focus on Epidemiology of late effects after childhood cancer; long-term surveillance of former childhood cancer patients in Germany (cohort of more than 40,000 patients).

With Riccardo Haupt and Kylie O’Brien she is forming the Management Team of PanCare project, PanCareSurPass, which is about implementing the Survivorship Passport in six European Countries (2021-2025). Desiree is the Coordinator, with overall responsibility for the smooth running of the project. She also leads the data centre in WP4, overseeing data collection, quality assurance and analysis of the implementation study data.
Desiree is involved as a partner in the e-QuoL project and another EU project, named Smartcare.
She was part of the Management Team of the former PanCare EU-Project, PanCareLIFE, and lead of the Work-Package for Datacollection and Harmonization of the PanCareSurFup EU-Project.
