Children’s Hospital Zagreb is the leading public health institution devoted exclusively to the care of children. It is the largest pediatric medical care in nation, that provides
comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, and teens, aged 0-18 throughout Croatia and neighboring countries. The hospital is home to 17 clinical departments with 190 beds, 5 referral centers, and a number of specialized clinical programs. It records more than 12,000 hospital admissions, 6,000 admissions in day hospital, and 250,000 outpatient visits annually. The hospital includes approximately 700 personnel and offers a recognized pediatric teaching program. In the e-QuOL project the hospital is the leader of WP6 related to ethics and social challenges, and is involved in WP1, 3, and 7.
The Department of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology was founded in 1974. is the largest national pediatric oncology that provides complete diagnostic and therapeutic care of children and adolescents with neoplastic and non-malignant hematological diseases. It has 15 rooms with 30 beds and two units for autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. From 1999. The department serves as the Referral Center for Pediatric Oncology of the Ministry of Health of Croatia. In 2008. The Rehabilitation center for psychosocial support for children with malignant diseases has been established.
Jelena Roganovic
MD, PhD, Full Professor, Jelena is an experienced and well-recognized pediatric hematologist and oncologist. She has completed her medical education from Rijeka and Zagreb/Croatia, Ljubljana/Slovenia, Padua/Italy, and Cincinnati/USA.
Dr Roganovic published more than 300 papers, book chapters, proceedings and abstracts, and received several important national awards. She serves as a reviewer for a number of national and international journals, and as an editorial board member of several journals of international repute. Dr Roganovic is the Full Professor tenure at the Faculty of Biotechnology and Drug Development, University of Rijeka, Croatia, and a president of the National Society for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. She is a certified member of many national and international pediatric societies, taking an active and remarkable contribution in the EXPeRT (The European Cooperative Study Group for Pediatric Rare Tumors) and PanCare (Pan-European Network for Care of Survivors after Childhood and Adolescent Cancer) Board.
