The Institut de Cancérologie de l’Ouest (ICO) is a comprehensive cancer center with two sites located in Angers (head office) and Nantes. The professionals at ICO provide personalised, innovative and multidisciplinary support for patients at all stages of their healthcare pathway. From rapid diagnosis to surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy), management also covers supportive care which is very highly developed at the centre. The ICO welcomes more than 47,000 patients per year. ICO’s research activity ranges from primary research through translational research to clinical trials, along with humanities and social sciences research. Additionally, ICO trains professionals of the future through its teaching activity and carries out prevention activities. ICO has been a full member of the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) since 2023.

For the e-Qol project, through its social science team, the department of health promotion and prevention and supportive care, ICO will contribute to the WP5 assessing the social and economic impact of the innovation. For the economic evaluation, we will assess the costs associated with the intervention using micro-costing methodology. We will also consider the societal perspective of the innovation in terms of outcome, for instance including those of the caregiver. We also plan to estimate the present value of the long-term productivity gain due to the innovation. ICO will also offer its expertise in sexology, contraception and fertility among young adults with cancers or survivors of cancers.
