Advancing Childhood Cancer Survivorship Care in Southeast Europe: e-QuoL at the Belgrade Regional Workshop

e-QuoL participated in a regional workshop in Belgrade, Serbia, bringing together experts, families and survivors to exchange experiences and strengthen long-term care.
As part of the ongoing communication and dissemination activities of the e-QuoL project, Dr. Jelena Roganovic and Dr. Jelica Predojevic Samardzic participated in the regional workshop “Childhood Cancer Survivorship Care – From European Standards to Regional Practice”, held in Belgrade, Serbia, on March 23, 2026.
The event, organized by the National Association of Parents of Children Affected by Cancer (Nurdor), brought together more than forty regional pediatric oncologists, parents, and children treated for cancer to share experiences and discuss long-term follow-up and care.
Key highlights from the session:
- European Standards: Dr. Roganovic (Zagreb, Croatia) opened the program with an overview of the late effects of childhood cancer treatment, emphasizing the importance of structured, multidisciplinary and lifelong survivorship care. She also presented key European initiatives, including the e-QuoL and PanCare4AYA projects, highlighting the role of standards and digital tools in improving quality of life and long-term care.
- Local Adaptation: Predojevic Samardzic (Banja Luka, Bosnia Herzegovina) shared the development and accomplishments of a survivorship care program in the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the importance of adapting European models to local contexts.
- Voices of the Families: Nada Krstovski (Belgrade, Serbia) addressed current challenges in Serbia, complemented by the voices of parents and families represented by NURDOR.
This workshop marks another step forward in strengthening regional collaboration and advancing the exchange of best practices, in line with the core objectives of the e-QuoL project.
